This is also being discussed in the comments section of Dave's Picks #31 over at
Someone at Rhino has (BIG TIME) pressed a wrong button, causing major issues with European shipments by UPS of the new Dave's Pick.
The issue? UPS are surcharging a massive £73 for delivering each customer's shipment. They came to my door today but I'm not going to pay.
According to an email I got from "Dr Rhino" the best hope for resolving the issue (though I'm not holding my breath) seems to be to do the following:
Send an email to
In the email:
1. describe "the issue";
2. include your order number (I got mine from an order confirmation following my subscription last October);
3. include the "tracking number" that was emailed to you late in July when they said "Your order is on the way".
4. I also included the UPS "InfoNotice number" at the bottom of my UPS "Sorry we missed you" slip, though this might not be needed.
You then get a reply from "Dr Rhino" saying that he/she will get back to you within 5 working days.

My question: has anyone in Europe managed to get their copy of Dave's Picks #31 ? Did you pay, or did Rhino issue some sort of credit note to pay the debt?

I'm in the same leaky boat as you. Contacted as soon as UPS advised of import fees: after several e-mails, Dr Rhino said all would be well and would pay fees. Then UPS attempted to deliver but first wanted the £73.92. I refused, UPS went away, I e-mailed Dr Rhino, awaiting response. Meanwhile Dave's Picks 31 is apparently warehoused in Southampton (about 90 minutes away).
Not the first time this year I've had problems with whoever. Ordered the recent Warfield CD: paid customs & admin fees only to receive an empty box. Eventually cancelled order, refunded me, and I went to Amazon but never had fees repaid.
Been buying the official stuff from source for 20 years .... never had problems until this year.

My copy of Dave's Picks #31 has been delivered in the UK. It took a couple of e-mails to customer service. They must have sorted the charges with UPS because I didn't have to pay anything.

Yes, mine has just arrived today as well, with nothing to pay. The padded envelope in which it came will one day be a collectors' item.
Congratulations to Rhino for sorting out this mess - they did everything necessary to keep in contact, and even had a plan to manufacture and ship out extra copies if needed.I hope everyone else gets their copy, too.
